Aloe vera is native to the Arabian Peninsula, but it is now widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions around the world. The thick, fleshy green leaves grow in a rosette pattern, and the leaves are lined with small, sharp teeth. It can grow up to 2 feet long. The plant may also produce tall spikes of yellow or orange flowers. Aloe vera is not just a pretty plant, but it also has many medicinal properties. The gel inside the leaves has been used for centuries to treat burns, wounds, and other skin conditions. Aloe vera is a relatively easy plant to care for. Here are some tips:

  • Light: Aloe vera prefers bright, indirect sunlight. It can tolerate some direct sunlight, but too much can scorch the leaves.
  • Water: Aloe vera is a drought-tolerant plant that prefers well-draining soil. Water the plant deeply but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can cause the roots to rot.
  • Humidity: Aloe vera prefers low humidity levels and can tolerate dry indoor air.
  • Fertiliser: Aloe vera does not require frequent fertilisation. You can fertilise the plant once a month with a balanced fertiliser during the growing season (spring and summer).
